This morning, the 28th, the male Rufous Hummingbird showed for the first time
this year in the Lake Hills Greenbelt boardwalk area west of 148th Ave. SE in
Bellevue. It appears every spring at the top of a dead tree in the
salmonberry just west of the pond. The first appearance of the Rufous
Hummingbird in previous years was 3/29 in 1997, 4/4 in 1998, 3/26 in 1999 and
4/26 in 2000.

The first appearance of the Violet-green Swallow was also this morning at
Larsen Lake, just a few days after the first Tree Swallow appeared.
