Hi Tweets - a cloudy day, rather chilly, with sometimes gusty winds. But good
birding none-the-less. I was joined by Brian Bell and Kathy Hornbein.
Highlights:

American Bittern Just below weir
Wood Duck Beautiful drake from lake platform
Eurasian Gr-w Teal Male in SW pond at Rowing Club
Bald Eagle Adult an 2 immatures over lake
Rufous Hummingbird At least 3-4 males, posing. 1 display flight.
V.G. Swallow HUNDREDS, everywhere
N R-w Swallow At least one at lake
Common Yellowthroat 99% sure we heard 2
Savannah Sparrow At least 1 at north end of East Meadow
Western Meadowlark 7 in East Meadow
Brown-headed Cowbird 2-3 males - first of spring

NESTING ACTIVITY

Red-tailed Hawk More activity on odd-snag nest
Hairy Woodpecker Male working on nest hole opposite RC dock
American Robin Nest building activity

Surprisingly, no Great Blue Heron, no Common Goldeneye, no Hooded Merganser,
only ONE Tree Swallow, no Yellow-rumped Warbler.

Yesterday, I had an AMERICAN KESTREL in a cottonwood at the east end of the
Interpretive Lot.

All told, 50 species.
