Subject: possible female Tufted Duck at Astoria Sewage

A bird was seen today on Astoria Sewage Ponds with clean,
white undertail coverts and a little poofy bit of feather
at the back of the crown. Unfortunately, it kept its bill
underwing the whole time that I watched it even when being
chased by other birds. This may well be the bird folks
have been reporting as a female TUFTED DUCK.

The male TUFTED DUCK was nearby, but I would not describe
them as being particularly interested in one another.

Mike Patterson Alas, to wear the mantle of Galileo,
Astoria, OR it is not enough to be persecuted
celata at pacifier.com by an unkind establishment,
you must also be right.
