Hi Tweets,
Just arrived home from Whistler, via Camano Island, where I was treated to
the sight of a male and female Wood duck. They had been seen several times
over the past week by my friend who lives on Camano, off of Lehman Rd.
Anyway, they were in a small pond on Russell Road. Russell Rd cuts off of
the main highway, and immediately it intersects with Lehman Rd, veering
south. Continue east on Russell only to the first house on your right (1/8
mile?). Just past the house is a small pond. The pair was at the back of
the pond, and we watched them for approximately 5 minutes, before they flew
off. I would check mornings/evenings. They were seen a few days ago, in
very small ditch/pond, right at the corner of Lehman & Russell. Apparently
they plan on hanging around for a few days.
What a gorgeous pair!
