I stopped at the Steigerwald Lake Refuge near Washougal, in Clark
County, on May 2. There I counted 236 GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE, 1
WESTERN KINGBIRD and a CHIPPING SPARROW.
At home on Mt. Pleasant, Skamania County, I found a male CALLIOPE
HUMMINGBIRD in the plantings around our place. Last year one showed up on
May 16th and the year before there was one on April 4th.There seemed to
be a movement of hummers Tuesday as before then we had only a couple of
Rufous visiting our feeders and there are now multiples fighting over
each feeder.
