While walking around Seward Park morning of 5/2, I am reasonably sure I
heard a great horned owl. It was hooting in the densely wooded area that
slopes up from the paved outer ring road directly across from Mercer
Island (I think it's the northeast side of the park). It was about 7:30
am. An odd time for it to be going on, and the first time I've heard one
there. The sound was distinctive though--any other Tweets catch this?
I have seen a western screech owl in the south end as recently as last
August, but this was definitely not that sound.
