Good Morning,
I just returned from walking my dog in the park above our house. It is
typical, now, to see Goldfinches, Kinglets, robins, starlings, sparrows of
various kinds, etc., but this morning I had a rare treat. As we were
walking north along the path of Laurelhurst park, we were drawn to the noise
of 20 or so crows chasing three juvenile bald eagles. They were trying hard
to land and stay landed in the huge Madonna trees. About twenty crows kept
at them, screaming and attacking. The eagles made several trips round the
3-acre area, and relanded, only to be flushed again. Finally, one by one,
these beautiful birds decided to seek a safer station, flying southwest
toward the fill. I am amazed at the relentless pecking and attacking done
by these tenacious crows. But what a treat to stand in the middle of this
hub bub!
