Monday I was on my way home from California. We had driven the day
before and stayed in a motel in Medford OR near Bear Creek. We were up
fairly early in the morning and I walked outside to the sounds of lots
of birds. I grabbed my binoculars and took a 20 minute walk near the
creek. I've been in High Island Texas during migration and I was amazed
how similar the feeling was to me to watch all the warblers etc that
were in the shrubbery along the creek. In 20 minutes I saw an amazing
amount of birds in a feeding frenzy. This is what I counted.

Scrub Jay 1
Black-capped Chickadees 10
Red-breasted Nuthatch 1
Golden-crowned Kinglet 2
Ruby-crowned Kinglet 6 (singing)
American Robin 6 (almost underfoot)
Cedar Waxwing 18
Cassin's Vireo 2 (also singing)
Warbling Vireo 4 (more singing)
Orange-crowned Warbler 1
Yellow Warbler 2 (singing)
Yellow-rumped Warbler 3
Black-throated Gray Warbler 3 (not singing but chipping)
Wilson's Warbler 8 ( more singing)
Brown-headed Cowbirds 6 ( happily displaying to one another. Isn't a
flock of Warblers heaven to Cowbirds?)
Northern Oriole Bullocks 2 (singing and chattering)
House Finch 3 (somemore singing)
House Sparrow 4 (rushing around trying to find out where all these
birds came from)

It was a wonderful morning but I had to face reality and head off for
another 8 hours of driving North. I wonder if any of these birds
followed me.
