I was also out birding yesterday and found nesting Purple
Martins. My birds were coming into nest boxes attached
to pilings located south of KVI Beach on Vashon Island.
There were at least two pair, one north of the pier and
one south of the pier.
Also, there were a pair of Marbled Murrelets in Elliot
Bay s.e. of Alki Beach.

While working the waterfront in a zodiac from Edmonds
to Picnic Point this morning I saw 3 purple martins (one
was an adult male) at the pilings just south of Picnic
Point, where nestboxes were installed earlier this spring.
Other highlights were eleven marbled murrelets and two
gray whales. The whales were close to shore at Picnic
Point and were heading north.
