Working the Edmonds/Lynwood waterfront again today, the highlight was a pair
of red throated loons in spectacular breeding plumage; the pair were north
of the Ocean Avenue access by perhaps a half mile. I had no idea that the
plumage was so striking, I have yet to see a picture that does them justice.
My image stabilizing binoculars really paid off in today's breezy weather,
and I was lucky that it never actually rained on us.
Purple martins were present again at Picnic Point; several Dall porpoise
were swimming leisurely to the south, and about a dozen caspian terns were
seen and heard. Marbled murrelets were scattered throughout, I would guess
we saw about a dozen individuals.
