Hello Tweets,

Today my mother and I observed a single SWAINSON'S THRUSH in our yard, along
with a Hermit Thrush that has been present since the 29th of April, but only
during the early afternoon today, also in or yard. The SWAINSON'S THRUSH is
4 days early according to our yard records, where we usually get them for 3
days to over 2 weeks in mid-May to early June, as we have ususally noted
them even after seeing them in the field while birding at various locations.
We first watched the bird in our front yard at 2pm, where it foraged along
the ground, as well as call, and partially sang at fairly low volumns in the
nearby thick vegetation in our yard, then when we came home from Nisqually
NWR we located the bird in our backyard, as it was also seen foraging on the
ground on the west side of our yard, then was noted drinking/bathing in our
birdbath, and was also noted fighting over a small earthworm between a male
Am.Robin. I report this sighting, as we personally have not seen any at
prior birding sites this month, including this evening at Nisqually NWR, as
it makes it that much more special to get a year bird in your yard, so
perhaps others are also noting them, but aren't reporting.

Good birding,

Ruth and Patrick Sullivan
