Osprey Celebration!
Honoring International Migratory Bird Day

May 12, 2001 will be a very special day in a very special place. Juanita Bay
Park in Kirkland will be the site of the fourth annual Osprey Celebration!,
from 10 am to 2 pm, sponsored by East Lake Washington Audubon Society and
the City of Kirkland. At this environmental fair for all ages, held on
International Migratory Bird Day, your family can take a walk with a
naturalist to look for resident and migrating birds, which thrive in this
beautiful park. Learn about conservation of natural areas and wetlands
important for birds, salmon and other wildlife from lots of fun displays.
And there'll be special activities just for kids.

Featured guest: Radio gardening personality Scott Conner! Scott will be
talking about wildlife friendly gardening. Come at noon to hear Scott and
ask your own questions.

Other activities:
Midnight Echo, a Native American children's dance & drumming group
Educational displays from many different environmental organizations
Investigating bugs and other critters from the wetland
Raffle drawing for some great prizes (tickets for sale all day)
Viewing scopes
Mounted birds and a nest and egg display for a close up look

ELWAS has dedicated an interpretive sign about ospreys and a nest platform
in Juanita Bay. We all hope ospreys will nest there this year! There will be
something at this event for everyone. Learn more about the Puget Sound area'
s rich natural heritage in birds, wildlife, salmon, plants and the people
who care about them. We'll be there rain or shine. Come join us!
