I have always been interested to see the big "herds" of bushtits that come
storming through my yard in winter. I'd estimate about three dozen of
them feed on one bush, noisily, then on they go as a group to another,
then another. The invasion is a daily occurrence, and it's also
interesting that they arrive roughly the same time every day.

Also, when conditions are right--ground moist--I've noted large groups of
robins convening, and they all seem to be yanking up worms left and right,
or, in late fall, stripping berries from the pyracanthus. Otherwise, they
are pretty much solo. I have noted the same rapid convening behavior of
human mushroom hunters in autumn: When they see others in a good spot, zoom!
Here they are to grab a share.
