Spent an hour this morning in the Capitol Forest west of Olympia off Hwy 8,
about 5 miles up Rock Candy Mountain Road in Thurston County. Highlights
were 5 HERMIT WARBLERS on nesting territory, singing constantly. Also had 4
MACGILLIVRAY'S WARBLERS singing in the new growth Douglas Fir plantings
about 2 miles up the road. Many flyovers of BAND-TAILED PIGEONS, a few
VARIED THRUSH. And if this Mariners game gets out of hand anytime soon, it
may force me to take the 5 minute drive to the Wier Prairie.
