Sunday at 11:13 I saw a BLACK-NECKED STILT fly toward me across a large pond just south of the 5th green at the Coyote Creek course at Willows Run Golf Course in Redmond, WA. I immediately walked rapidly to the edge of the pond (much to the surprise of my playing partners) and confirmed the sighting. The bird flew to the east side of the pond, where it joined two more black-necked stilts. (My fiancee, who is familiar with the bird, also saw only the three birds.)

Willows Run GC is immediately east of Willows Road in Redmond. I'm sure that there is an easier way to get to that pond area, but that's where I happened upon it. The pond complex is about the center of the newer part of the Coyote Creek/Eagles Talon area. The newest part of the course is the area to the north of the clubhouse. It is much more open than the older course area, which has many willows, etc., growing around the ponds.

Also seen during the round were the following:
Blue-winged teal
Vaux's swift
Spotted sandpiper (which I've seen many times since the course opened several years ago)

Many swallows, all the usual ducks, including a gadwall with 12 young, Canada geese, yellow warblers, are in the area. I did not bird the course complex intensively, but I'm sure that the bird list there could be very rewarding.

Note: I at first couldn't believe what I saw, and it took a bit to register that I was in Redmond, not at Moses Lake, where I was last week when I saw black-necked stilts on the golf course there.
