I'm thinking you saw a first year Red-winged Blackbird . . . just a guess.

A Fieldfare sighting at Greenlake would have twitchers coming in from
everywhere.

Subject: Fieldfare?

Along the west shore of Greenlake, yesterday, I saw a bird putzing in the
grass, rooting around and flipping things over like a thrush. It wasn't a
starling. It had a whitish eyebrow, a red patch at the shoulder/wing.
Haven't seen one of these before. It was
alone, and the closest thing in my bird book is a Fieldfare (from the new
Golden Guide). Is this likely the right ID? Have others seen it? Is it
common?

Thanks!
