Yesterday I had 131 Caspian Terns loafing on the roof of a warehouse on
Pier 90 in Seattle. Checked my Tern book and no mention made of them using
warehouse roofs as nest sites, like some gulls and terns. Might these be
second summer non-breeders? Or migrants on their way to some other breeding
site? Any tern experts out there?
