Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This
report was made Thursday May 17. If you have anything to add call Harry

On May 16 a COMMON MOORHEN was near the mouth of Elk River in Curry
County. A SCISSOR-TAILED FLYCATCHER was near Cape Blanco May 12. An adult
male INDIGO BUNTING was at Brookings May 10. Another INDIGO and a
BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLER were at Fields during the week. A BLACK-AND-WHITE
WARBLER was in northwest Polk County May 12.

On May 13 a GREAT-TAILED GRACKLE was at the Wood River Wetlands at the
north end of Agency Lake in Klamath County.

A MANX SHEARWATER and 5000 RED-NECKED PHALAROPES were at Boiler Bay May
10. A male COSTA'S HUMMINGBIRD continues to be seen in Eugene and another
was at a Beaverton feeder May 13 but did not remain.

Flocks of up to 40 WHITE-FACED IBIS were reported from many western
Oregon and Washington locations during the week, including Fern Ridge
Reservoir, Fernhill Wetlands, and Jackson Bottom. A flock of 3500
WHITE-FACED IBIS was reported during the week in Harney County near
Diamond Craters.

A few BROWN PELICANS are now arriving along the coast and have been seen
as far north as the Columbia River. Shorebirds are still moving along the
coast. A PACIFIC GOLDEN-PLOVER was on the North Spit of Coos Bay May 12.
On May 13, 148 GREAT EGRETS were near the breeding colony at Pony Slough
on Coos Bay. A LONG-BILLED CURLEW was on the beach at Tierra Del Mar May
12. A PALM WARBLER was on the Bayocean Peninsula at Tillamook Bay May 13.

A FRANKLIN'S GULL was at Tillamook Bay May 13 and a FORK-TAILED
SOTRM-PETREL was inside Tillamook Bay May 16. Two FRANKLIN'S GULLS were
near Astoria May 12. Two LEACH'S STORM-PETRELS and 11 FORK-TAILED
STORM-PETRELS were at the South Jetty of the Columbia River following the
May 16 storm. Four PARASITIC JAEGERS were there the next day. A BULLOCK'S
ORIOLE was at the South Jetty May 12. Up to 34 RED KNOTS are now in the
jetty area.

On May 10 fifteen BLACK-NECKED STILTS were at Ridgefield NWR. A BLUE-GRAY
GNATCATCHER was seen again May 13 at Powell Butte Park in Gresham. On May
13 a GRASSHOPPER SPARROW was at Coon Point on Sauvie Island and several
were at Fern Ridge Reservoir. Four WHITE PELICANS were near Fern Ridge
that day. An ASH-THROATED FLYCATCHER was in Eugene May 13 and a female
BLACK-CHINNED HUMMINGBIRD was there the next day.

A male AMERICAN REDSTART was back at Indian Ford Creek north of Sisters
May 12. A flock of 33 FRANKLIN'S GULLS was near Sisters that day.
