Hi Tweets:

Saturday, May 19, East Lake Washington Audubon lead a field trip to Ft. Lewis
Army base for 12 people. It was windy and cold most of the day. However,
the day started with scoping Red Crossbills feeding young in the fir trees
across from Range Control. Not long after, we scoped two downy Red-tailed
Hawks being fed by a parent. While watching a Red-breasted Sapsucker feed
from sap holes, we saw a Rufous Hummingbird come in and feed from the same
holes, something none of us had witnessed before. Our Ft. Lewis trip list of
62 species also included Western Bluebird, Osprey, Western Meadowlark, House
Wren, Yellow-headed Blackbird, Purple Martin, Cassin's and Warbling Vireo,
Western Tanager, American Kestrel; Yellow, Orange-crowned, Yellow-rumped,
Wilson's Warbler and Common Yellowthroat; Chipping, Savannah and Vesper
Sparrow; Olive-sided Flycatcher and Western Wood-pewee. We also saw coyote,
deer and chipmunk.
