This is the Lower Columbia Basin Audubon Society Bird Alert for May 21,

At the Yakima Delta on May 10, among the numerous American Avocets and
Black-necked Stilts, Bob Woodley found 1 SEMIPALMATED PLOVER, 1 SPOTTED and
3 LEAST SANDPIPERS, both yellowlegs, 3 WILSON'S PHALAROPES, and 3 teal
species. At Bateman Island he found BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAKS, a DOWNY
WOODPECKER, 2 female WESTERN TANAGERS, 1 CHIPPING SPARROW, and 1 Empidonax
flycatcher, possibly a Hammond's.

On May 11, Nancy LaFramboise located a breeding plumaged BLACK-BELLIED
PLOVER, several LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS, 1 WILSON'S PHALAROPE, and 4
SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS at the Yakima Delta. That afternoon, Bob Woodley
located 25 WHITE-FACED IBIS there.

Mike Denny reported a COMMON GRACKLE near College Place at 5047 Detour Road
off McDonald Road on May 14. He also saw a WHITE-FACED IBIS 1/2 mile
beyond that location. There were RED-NECKED PHALAROPES and a CATTLE EGRET
at Iowa Beef, and a BLACK TERN at the Walla Walla Delta.

Ruth Fischer reported at least 6 BLACK TERNS at the Yakima Delta on May 14.

Dale Litzenberger had 2 PINE SISKINS at his Burbank feeder on May 14.

On May 15, Nancy LaFramboise and Ruth Fischer discovered a BLACK TURNSTONE
at the Yakima Delta seen on the mudflats from Bateman Island.

On Bateman Island on May 18, Bob Woodley saw 2 EASTERN KINGBIRDS, 1 YELLOW
and 2 TOWNSEND'S WARBLERS and 1 CASSIN'S VIREO.

Dana Ward saw a TURKEY VULTURE at Palouse Falls on May 19.

On May 20 at Sacajawea State Park, Laurie Ness observed a pair of EASTERN
KINGBIRDS and a singing OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER.
