Tim Perkins and I birded parts of Eastern Washington on saturday on the way
to Kelowna, BC to participate in the Okanagan Big Day Challenge with one of
the locals, Chris Charlesworth's team.

At Wilson Creek among the Tricolored Blackbird colony, we had a Tundra Swan
and a Ferruginous Hawk perched on a telephone pole. The swan being the most
unusual bird of the day, but it was nice to see many breeding ducks along
Toroda Creek Road on the way up to Chesaw.

Big Day:
Highlights being a pair of Pine Grosbeaks, a life bird for Tim and myself
(wow what a gorgeous bird and my bird of the day!) many calling Flam owls, 2
Lesser Yellowlegs at the Dump ponds, 4 Common Terns that Tim spotted at Head
of the Lake, and a Double-crested Cormorant at the same spot.
Our team one the Big Day Challenge with 164 species seen between 12:00AM and
10:00PM. I would write a trip report, but Tim and myself drove straight
home after that (I arrived at my girlfriends place in Tacoma at 6:00AM
Monday as there was no way I would have made it back to Lacey). Yeah, I
know that was crazy, but I had to work monday even though I was a zombie.
But I slept 15 hours last night so I'm about caught up.
