Hi Everybody,

I picked up the Smithsonian Handbook "Birds of North America, Western
Region," at the Seattle Audubon Nature Shop Saturday. Don't recall having
seen it before, anybody know if this a new publication?? I really like
it--it combines the features of a field guide w/a lot of the info in "The
Birders Handbook." One aspect I really think is neat is that the size of
the bird is depicted relative to the size of the book. For me that's much
easier to grasp than mere measurements. It isn't the type of book you'd
take on a field trip IMHO--too thick and heavy, but it's a nice complement
to field guides and Sibley.
