I have seen three different Western Tanagers in the Enatai neighborhood in
Bellevue in the past two weeks. The first two were seen about 1 1/2 weeks
ago in Maple trees in my front yard. I was towing my one year old around in
a wagon when I saw a bright bird fly into the Maples. I quickly deposited my
son in the house while I scrambled to find my binoculars. I was surprised to
spot two Tanagers feeding in the tree. I also heard at least one other in a
nearby tree that I could not spot.

Then, last Saturday morning, while walking my son in Mercer Slough I briefly
saw one more Tanager high up in a birch tree. I had only seen two other
Tanagers in my life, both in the Eastern Cascades so this was a real treat!

Good Birding,

Jack
