The Lingers suggested to me that the snake-killing Robin resembled
a Roadrunner more than a Buteo, and of course they are right -- for more
reasons than one, as follows:

While watching our frantic Robin baby-feeders forage outside my home
office windows, I realized that they follow foraging routes, repeating the
same paths around our grounds. Each of the couple has its own path and
various perches. This behavior is exactly like a Roadrunner's. And their
rush-stop-rush stop perambulations look just like a Roadrunner's.

I now rename them: Geococcyx turdus migratorius
