Greets --
There are a lot of violet-green swallows in my downtown Everett
neighborhood. This morning I arose at 3:15 AM. It was still very (if not
totally) dark outside. I heard swallows chattering as they flew in the air
above my house. I am sure they were swallows (and not bats) because one
morning two weeks ago I saw (and heard) them in their feeding flight at 4:30
AM (in the dim predawn light) when I was out on my back door step.
Can one of you 'swallow experts' please either confirm or refute my
thought that swallows must either have eyesight that allows them to see in
the dark or else they use the some type of radar (sonar?) that bats use.
