Hi Folks,

Don Norman has asked me to Post this notice.

Some sites are still available for this Sat June 2nd BIG SIT, a 6 hour watch
for herons using marine tidal areas from the Snohomish Delta to Point
Roberts. Some sites available include:

Twassessen Ferry Terminal
Boundary Bay (scope needed)
Pt Whitehorn
Sandy Point
Hale Passage/Portage Is
Fish Pt (B'ham Bay)
N. Bellingham Bay
Chuckanut Bay
One Site at Padilla Bay (scope required)
Snee-Oosh Beach
Mission Beach/Tulalip Bay

Contact Don Norman ASAP for information on access, training materials, MAPS,
and further information.

The Sits will be from 9am to 3pm, with counts taken every 15 minutes. If
you have another favorite spot and want to participate there, I can put you
in touch with other observers at those spots. Some mileage and per-diem
(lunch) is available for the financially impaired. At the same time we are
sitting, the project will also have a WDFW plane flying over the sites on
June 2nd, 3rd, and 9th (weather permitting) and so if the other dates work
for you, let Don know. We are looking for persons at any of the major heron
foraging areas for the 3rd and 9th to help refine the ground and ground
truthing data.
