Sightings for Tuesday, May 29

The AMERICAN WHITE PELICANS were again present on Iona Bay until approx.
10:00 AM when they were observed in flight heading northward till the
disappeared into the clouds. There were no reports of the birds after that
time.

A male CHESTNUT-SIDED WARBLER was seen at Grant Narrows RP in Pitt Meadows.
The bird was on the Nature Dike approx. half way to the observation tower.
It was located at 5:00pm. A later search failed to relocate the bird. Also
seen at Grant Narrows were a YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRD, several BULLOCK'S
ORIOLES, a GREEN HERON and several BLACK SWIFTS.

BLACK SWIFTS were also reported from UBC, south Delta and Colony Farm. Also
reported from
Colony Farm were a SORA and a WESTERN KINGBIRD. The Kingbird seen in the
large tree north on the dike from the new foot bridge on the Port Coquitlam
side of the Park.

Monday, May 28

The 15 AMERICAN WHITE PELICANS were present on Iona Bay. Fifteen WILSON'S
PHALAROPE were seen on the NE Pond. A male RING-NECKED DUCK was on the outer
pond and from the Jetty came the sighting of 2 THAYER'S GULLS and a HERRING
GULL.

Seen from the 1,000 Steps area of Boundary Bay was a PARASITIC JEAGER.

Observed in the skies over UBC were 300+ BLACK SWIFTS.

Sunday, May 27

The AMERICAN WHITE PELICANS were discovered on Iona Bay. Another 2 PELICANS
were seen flying over Maillardville in a southerly direction. At least 6
WILSON PHALAROPES were on the Iona ponds. Along Ferguson Rd. opposite the
horse barns on the airport fence was a WESTERN KINGBIRD.

A singing TENNESEE WARBLER was heard and seen near the monument on NW marine
Dr. near Cecil Green Park. Seen from the cliffs at Cecil Green was a
PARASITIC JAEGER.

OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHERS were reported from Surrey, Pitt Meadows & Burnaby.

Five WHIMBREL were observed at Crescent Beach.

A CANADA GOOSE of the Cackling race was seen along the south shore of
Burnaby Lake.

Saturday, May 26

The CHIPPING SPARROW was reported from the 10,000 block of Rosecroft in
Richmond.

Sightings for Friday, May 25

An on territory singing male CHIPPING SPARROW was seen in the 10,000 block
of Rosecroft in Richmond.

Seen on Limbert Rd. in Agassiz was a WESTERN KINGBIRD. Also seen in the
Agassiz area east of 49680 Camp Rd. were 2 WILSON'S PHALAROPES and a singing
male LAZULI BUNTING was seen on Mountain View Rd.

Thursday, May 24

Two AMERICAN WHITE PELICANS were seen in overflight near Nelson & Bidwell
heading in the direction of English Bay.

Two LEAST FLYCATCHERS were reported at Cheam Lake Wetlands RP east of
Chilliwack.
