No owls today. Five of us met this morning at 6:30 under cloudy skies and the
occasional drizzle (ok - the first one was a touch more than a drizzle, but it
didn't last long). Not a tremendously high species count, but some nice birds:

Green Heron Gorgeous bird across from Dog Central
Wood Duck Mama with 13 tiny 'lings at Dog Central
Osprey Caught fish on lake, later over slough
BLACK SWIFT About 40 over lake, later over E. Meadow
Hairy Woodpecker 3 nice looks
Bullock's Oriole 1st year male in East Meadow

The BLACK SWIFT are to be expected on overcast days in June, down near the lake
or over the boardwalk, though sometimes right over the main part of Marymoor.
We also had at least one VAUX'S SWIFT north of the weir.

CEDAR WAXWINGS, though beautiful, were so numerous as to be annoying.

A SWAINSON'S THRUSH came hopping down the path towards us just south of the Dog
Area, and it kept approaching for several minutes until it was no more than a
dozen feet away from Brian and MaryFrances. It's a joy to see such a bird so
close for so long. It was even making its "whit" call right from the path. It
later flew up to a willow where it showed itself in a more typical pose. Oh,
for a camera!

Lots of BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAK, several YELLOW WARBLER, many singing WILLOW
FLYCATCHER, and at least 4 male RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD were also seen, for a total
of 45 species.
