And a glorious morning to you all!

I cross Lake Washington on I520 every morning about 0630. This runs past
the South side of Union Bay opposite the Montlake Fill and across Foster
Island. This area has good waterfowl habitat and is always interesting to
watch. This morning I saw a pair of Bald Eagles perched on a log which is
very low in the water with one end slightly submerged. The eagles were
perched on the submerged end with their feet actually in the water from my
viewpoint. About ten days ago I was working from a boat transiting this
area and saw one bird in the same place. What caught my attention was the
fact that these birds have a choice of about thirty feet of log which is 2-3
inches out of the water and perhaps five feet which is slightly submerged.
They seem to prefer the wet end of the log. The bird ten days ago appeared
to be feeding but this morning's pair was just watching the bay. Any of
you eagle watchers have any thoughts on this behavior?
