Tonight Kris Baker & I went to Picnic Point Park in Snohomish County, and walked south along the beach to check on some new martin boxes on the pilings. Two pair were present at about 9pm, and a few weeks ago we got a reliable report of an additional pair. No house sparrows were in sight, only a couple of starlings, and one bald eagle.

Regarding Vaux's swifts, a couple of years ago we followed up on a tweeter report of Vaux's swifts roosting in a chimney in Enumclaw, right next to the police station. We (Kris, Sam Woods, & Molly Baumann & I) went one rainy evening and were enthralled by the sight of hundreds of the swifts swirling into the chimney, darting in and out and putting on a show that lasted for at least an hour or so. I've not heard if they continue to roost there.
