Subject: Article on Estimating Bird Numbers?

Hi Tweets,

and greetings from South Carolina.

I'm sifting through my library looking for an old article by Bob Arbib in
American Birds magazine on visually estimating the numbers of flocks of
birds. With Christmas Counts coming up, this is good to revisit every so
often. I thought there might be a Tweeter out there who remembers it.

But I can't find it. Do any of you tweets remember the article well
enough to supply me with information to find it (date published, for
example?) It was probably published in the mid 1970s, but I promise not
to call you "codger" or "coot" if you can help me out.

Come down and visit some time, and I'll take you sparrowing - It's at
least theoretically possible to see six species of Ammodramus sparrows
around here in winter (Henslow's, LeConte's, Grasshopper, Seaside and both
Sharp-tails, in ascending order of likelihood), along with lots of other
nice coastal birds and Southeastern specialties.

Chris
