The Lower Columbia Birders took their monthly walk this
morning under cloudy skies with intermittent drizzle. We
on scenic Warrenton including King Avenue and the Sewage
Ponds with a focus on sparrowy habitats.
At least 2 (possibly 3) WHITE-THROATED SPARROWS were seen
near the burned out building. A NORTHERN SHRIKE was in the
pasture between King Ave and the Skipanon, 4 ORANGE-CROWNED
WARBLERS (in a loose flock) were near the dirt bike track.
We also saw (or heard) several LINCOLN'S SPARROWS.
A SWAMP SPARROW was in the fallow area west of the Sewage
Ponds.
There were about 30 or so BROWN PELICANS and 150 HEERMANN'S
GULLS sitting on the jetty at Hammond Boat Basin. We also
found a HERRING GULL there. The brushy area between the
point park and the pilot boat park was full of BUSHTITS and
PINE SISKINS, also a HUTTON'S VIREO.
