Hello Tweets,

Today Dave Hayden, and my mother and I birded Ridgefield NWR,Vancouver Lake,
and a side trip to Canby,Oregon where we ended the day with observing the
Cassin's Kingbird. Weather conditions mainly consisted of cloudy skies, with
partial clearing, but NO rain or wind. We spent the majority of the day in
Clark Co., mainly at the River S and Carty Units of Ridgefield NWR, then
some additional birding made along Lower River Rd. and the Vancouver Lake
Bottoms, before heading to Canby, where we spent extensive searching for the
Cassin's Kingbird starting at 1:30pm , which was located just before we
arrived, then was NOT seen until 3:45pm, and observed until at least 4:20pm,
as lighting conditions decreased, and we headed for home. The Cassin's
Kingbird was still probably the best bird of the day, although we had
additional highlights in Clark Co., which we were fortunate to see, despite
coverage made by several other birders during our visit from Oregon,
including Owen Schmidt, who was the only birder that remained along with us
to observe the bird until we left, and headed for home. The bird was located
immediately upon it's arrival, but then would fly sporadically around the
west side of Forest Rd., then foraged along a vegetated hillside, before
flying over onto the east side of the road onto a fence row, then headed to
an unknown location. During our fairly lengthy visit to this location we
also noted a few other species including:

1 RED-SHOULDERED HAWK
