This is the Vancouver Bird Alert for Sunday, November 4, evening update.

The featured birds are Glaucous gull and Parasitic Jaeger.

Sightings for Sunday, November 4:

A first year Glaucous Gull was seen on log pilings on the river behind Iona
Island. Also at Iona, a Parasitic Jaeger was seen off the south jetty along
with about 1,000 Bonaparte's Gulls.

Ferguson Point in Stanley Park had 2 Black Oystercatchers and 6 Black
Turnstones.

A Rough-legged Hawk was at 168th Street and 40th Avenue in Surrey.

Saturday, November 3:

At Reifel, 2 Barn Swallows were on a wire along the approach road before the
gate.

The juvenile HUDSONIAN Godwit continued to be seen at 104th Street on
Boundary Bay, along with the juvenile Pacific Golden Plover, a Snow Bunting
and 2 Peregrine Falcons.

The Coalport jetty had 2 Red Knots, and the Tsawwassen jetty had a WILLET
and
a Black Duck at their usual locations. 6 Brandt's Cormorants were on a rock
at the tip of the jetty.

A Townsend's Solitaire was seen in a yard in the 1000 block of Alderside
Road
in Port Moody.

Friday, November 2:

104th Street on Boundary Bay continues to produce a good assortment of
waders
in addition to large numbers of DUNLIN and Black-bellied Plovers there were:
1 HUDSONIAN Godwit, 2 juvenile Pacific Golden Plovers, 3 Red Knots, 1
Semi-semipalmated Plover, 15 Least Sandpipers and 3 Greater Yellowlegs.
In a corn stubble field ? kilometer east of 104th there were 3 Snow Buntings
and 2 Lapland Longspurs, while an Orange-crowned Warbler was in a wood lot
50
meters directly east of the end of the road.

At Reifel 1 Swamp Sparrow was at the tower, along the foreshore. Also at
Reifel were 13 Sandhill Cranes and a Barred Owl and 2 Cliff Swallows were
seen on Thursday.

The base of the Robert's Bank Jetty had 1 Red Knot and a Tundra Swan and 5
adult Trumpeter Swans and 2 Cygnets.were on Lost Lagoon in Stanley Park.

Thursday, November 1:

The Great Egret was on Tambaline Slew on Westham Island.

The Hudsonian Godwit and 5 juvenile Pacific Golden Plovers were at
104th,along with 2 juvenile Semipalmated Plovers, 2 Lapland Longspurs, 1
Snow
Bunting and 2 Peregrine Falcons. 6 Trumpeter Swans and 16 Tundra Swans were
seen flying from 104th across Boundary Bay towards White Rock.

In a late report for Wednesday 2 Osprey were at Reeve Park in Port
Coquitlam.
