Tweets,

I am just sitting at my home computer which is temporarily in a living
room window because of some remodeling. I had tacked up a little piece of
lath to the window sill so that it would hold some sunflower seeds.

Houses Sparrows, House Finches, and Chickadees accompany me as I take care
of Tweeters error messages. Just now I heard a louder than usual rapping
there and turned to see a NORTHERN FLICKER (yellow shafts clearly visible)
not 4 feet from where I'm sitting. What a kick!

Also this morning at the Montlake Fill Tom Wallace and I saw an AMERICAN
BITTERN sitting out on a small island in the Dime Lot Pond as listed on
Fred Birds Map.

It's the first one I've ever been able to see in good light sitting in the
open. Usually only see them flying away.

Good birding,
