Hi gang,

I had my car's brake lights fixed today at 90th and Aurora and while I was
waiting I took a walk. I started off by visiting Pillings Pond. My
goodness, can I count his birds on my life list? Uhm, Mallards, American
and Eurasian Wigeons, Buffleheads, Barrow's and Common Goldeneyes, Green
winged, Blue winged and Cinnamon Teals, Wood Ducks, Harlequin Ducks, Smew
in various plumages, Black Swans, South American Black-necked Swans
(Geese?) and many many many other I couldn't identify. What a small treasure.

I headed south to Green Lake and was impressed by the large numbers of
Bushtits, Juncos, flickers, robins in the front yards I passed..

Green Lake was pretty quiet, two Ruddy Ducks, two female Common Mergansers,
two Northern Shovelers, six Pied Billed Grebes, two Great Blue Herons, a
handful of Buffleheads, only one male, one Eurasian Wigeon, lots of Coots
and a good number of Double-crested Cormorants . I was really surprised
that I didn't see a single Brewers Blackbird.

After circumnavigating Green Lake I walked back North, stopping at Pillings
Pond again before picking up my car. A five mile walk and $57 later. Not a
bad day at all
