Sightings for Thursday, November 8:

A Cattle Egret was again seen at 96th Street and Highway 10, and is best
viewed about 100 meters up 96th at the school, looking east.

Another Cattle Egret was seen from the Westham Island Bridge as it flew
downstream towards the Strait.

A Common Redpoll was seen in birches at the foot of 96th Street at Boundary
Bay and was seen to fly towards the parking lot at 104th Street.

Another Common Redpoll was at a backyard feeder at 21st Avenue and 153A
Street in South Surrey.

The American Black Duck continued to be seen at the compensation lagoon at
the Tsawwassen ferry jetty, and the WILLET was at the base of the jetty.

About 80 Lapland Longspurs could still be seen in a field at 96th Street,
100
meters towards 104th Street. Also at 96th was a Marbled Godwit.

Wednesday, November 7:

A Cattle Egret was seen at the corner of 96th Street and Highway 10, just
east of the Esso station, with a number of cows.

The juvenile Yellow-headed Blackbird was again seen at 40th Avenue and 140th
Street in Surrey.

A first winter Heermann's Gull was seen at high tide just east of White Rock
peer at White Rock Beach.

Large numbers of Lapland Longspurs continued to be seen in 2 corn stubble
fields along Boundary Bay. One was ? kilometer east of 96th Street, in which
there were an astonishing 150 to 200 Lapland Longspurs and the other is the
field east of 104th Street that had only a handful of Lapland Longspurs and

Snow Buntings. Also seen were a Grey-crowned Rosy Finch, a Red Knot and a
Merlin. A hedgerow going to the west of 104th had a Wilson's Warbler.

Tuesday, November 6:

A first year Yellow-headed Blackbird was seen on the east side of 140th
Street, just north of 40th Avenue in Surrey, in a large mixed flock of
blackbirds.

A Palm Warbler was at the foot of 112th Street in Boundary Bay. Also at the
Bay at 104th Street were 50 + Lapland Longspurs, 4 snow Buntings, the
Hudsonian Godwit, a Least Sandpiper and a Semipalmated-palmated Plover.

At the trestle bridge in Colbrook at Mud Bay were a Marbled Godwit and a
WILLET, the third seen this year in our area. 2 MERLINS and a Peregrine
Falcon were at 176th Street and 104th Avenue in Surrey.

Out of town, the Cattle Egret was again seen in Matsqui, just underneath the
Mission Bridge, and also, later in the afternoon, between the railroad and
highway bridge.
