This is Charles Swift with the Northern Idaho / Eastern Washington
/Northeastern Oregon bird hotline for Sunday, Nov 11 (2001). This hotline,

A PACIFIC LOON was present on the Clearwater River across from the Port of
Lewiston on Nov 10 seen by PAS field trip. This area can be viewed from
north or south of the river but the loon could be anywhere in the area on
the the Clearwater or Snake rivers. ID DeLorme 54 A-1.

Two male EURASIAN WIGEONS were on the largest of the Lewiston, Nez Perce
Co, ID levee ponds on 3 Nov according to Al Winter. At least 1 was still
present on November 10. This pond is along the US 12 bypass around downtown
Lewiston and is right next to the railroad bridge that crosses the highway
and the river.

In Grant Co, WA on 3 Nov, Matthew Moskwik reports 2 WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS on
Lake Lenore and 2 SURF SCOTERS at the south end of Blue Lake. Both lakes
are along WA 17 between Soap Lake and Coulee City. WA DeLorme 68, A-4 on
the crease and 84 and 85, D-4 and 5.

A female LONG-TAILED DUCK was present on November 10 at Mann Lake and was
also seen by the PAS field trip. Also earlier that morning a WHITE-WINGED
SCOTER was reported by Bryan Jamieson. Mann Lake is in Lewiston Orchards at
the end of Grelle Ave. which can be reached from 21st St. (aka Thain Grade)
southeast of Lewiston. ID DeLorme 54 A-1.

A CATTLE EGRET was reported by Mike Denny on Nov 9 at the Prescott
Elementary School in Prescott, WA. Prescott in in Walla Walla Co. along WA
124. The Dennys also found 2 GRAY-CROWNED ROSY-FINCH along Piper Canyon Rd.
north & west of Prescott. WA DeLorme 41, A-6 & B-6.

The Sunnyside, Yakima Co, WA BLUE JAY was seen on 3 Nov by Denny
Granstrand. From Sunnyside go south (toward Grandview) on US 12 and turn
east (left) on Alexander Road. Go 1.6 miles, cross Puterbaugh Road and
proceed to first house on right. Go up drive between the grapes to red barn
and wood shed (about 50 ft). The jay hangs around in the tree and is
feeding on acorns in the old flatbed truck. The residence belongs to George
Graf who is usually home after 2:00 pm. George owns a large German Shepherd
so you should call ahead at 509.882.2616. WA DeLorme 38, BC-1.

BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS are being widely reported from areas in the inland
northwest including Moscow, Walla Walla and Shoshone Co., ID.

A WHITE-THROATED SPARROW was at a feeder in Viola, Latah Co, ID on 7 Nov
and has persisted through the weekend according to Nancy Miller. Another
was present briefly in the Spokane area.

A flock of COMMON REDPOLLS were in Cheney, Spokane Co, WA this past week at
the according to Matthew Moskwik. Contact him at mpmoskwik at hotmail.com for
directions for these birds. Redpolls have also been reported from
Spokane, Moscow, and Walla Walla. WA DeLorme 72 A-4.
