Public meeting set to consider Sammamish restoration plan


The public is invited to review a comprehensive plan aimed at restoring and
protecting habitat for salmon and other wildlife along the Sammamish River
tomorrow evening, November 14 in Woodinville.

The Sammamish River Corridor Action Plan will be reviewed with the public in
the Woodinville City Council Chambers. Staff responsible for developing the
plan will host an open house beginning at 6:00 p.m., which will be followed
at 7:00 p.m. with a 20-minute slide show presentation on the plan. The
public will then be invited to provide comments and raise questions about
the plan's recommendations.

The Sammamish River Corridor Action Plan has been developed over this year
under the oversight of an inter-jurisdictional committee with membership
from King County, Redmond, Woodinville, Bothell, Kenmore, and the U.S. Army
Corps of Engineers.

The plan makes recommendations to guide the conservation and enhancement of
natural resources in the Sammamish River corridor for at least the next
five-to-10 years. It has a special focus on restoring habitat that would
contribute to salmon recovery in the Greater Lake Washington Watershed, but
also includes recommendations that would benefit birds and other wildlife.
