I've never been as wet while birding (if you don't count birding while
swimming). I was joined by Brian Bell, and an intrepid Ollie -- they,
unfortunately, missed The Bird.

The big highlight was a SWAMP SPARROW seen briefly at around 10:00, then again
for about 3 brief looks at around noon. It was in with at least 7 other
species of sparrow at the "compost piles" - the stuff they've dumped just east
of the Interpretive Lot (I think if you follow signs to the Interpretive Trail,
you'll get to the right place.)

I had a NINE sparrow day (10 if you count House Sparrow), with Song, Fox,
Lincoln's, White-crowned, Golden-crowned, and Savannah Sparrow (1), Spotted
Towhee, and Dark-eyed Junco (1), plus the Swamp Sparrow. There were about a
half-dozen Lincoln's Sparrow at the compost piles, as well as a couple of Fox
Sparrow. Fox are not usually seen there, but they were widespread today.

Other highlights:

Ring-necked Duck Pair at Rowing Club
Common Snipe 3-4 birds
Hooded Merganser 3 (2 males and a female) near RC dock
Cooper's Hawk Wet bird seen from boardwalk
Virginia Rail Heard from boardwalk

All told, a thoroughly soaked parka, sopping sweatshirt, dripping t-shirt,
more-than-just-damp silk undershirt, saturated hat, sodden gloves, a new park
bird (and personal state bird), and 43 species.

And some people think I'm nuts to go out in this weather...
