hello tweets,

if you like owls, then you will enjoy watching the harry potter film.

there are four species of owls in this film (and you can guess what
they all are if you've read the first book). there are some really amazing
close-up shorts of these owls, which are impressive when you see them
on a big screen, and you can see the detail of each feather and each
eye is as big as you are tall. the owls kept their own species-specific
calls (a big plus) although some flying scenes were computer generated
so the flight pattern was a little ... wrong. however, there are some
"real" flight scenes, too, and distinguishing which is which provides
some fun for birders.

i saw the movie on opening morning, at midnight-oh-one on the 16th,
with a birder colleague of mine. we sat in the cinerama almost all
night, watching this film and my attention never once strayed nor
waned. it was a treat to sit in a theatre watching a film with bunches
of other crazy people, all of whom had seen the film as often as i had;
never. i'd never had this experience before.

the music, characters, sets, dialogue and scenes were rich and detailed
and wonderful. this is the movie to see this, or any other, year. it
simply MUST be seen, at least once, on the big screen.

regards,
