Hi Tweets,
On Sunday,, at Spencer Island, I saw about 30 Common Redpolls in a flock
of about 150 Pine Siskins. The flock was along the loop trail, about
150 m North of the intersection of the 'far-end' of the central dike
trail. I checked very carefully for Hoary Redpoll, but was unable to
find one (which isn't to say that there isn't one there; the subtle ID
is at the upper range of my abilities). Spencer Island was
'hopping'...numerous large feeding flocks (Orange-crowned and
Yellow-rumped Warblers) and groups of sparrows (lots of Fox and
Lincoln's Sparrows). Also, there was an Eared Grebe in basic plumage on
the main sewage pond, very close to the 'gate' as you walk tward Spencer
Island from the parking lot.
