Hi folks, I saw this blurb on a WDFW weekly report, and thought that it
might have some interest and application for anyone working on habitat
conservation in the Gorge. It's a shame that some of the county
jurisdictions can easily convert habitat necessary for the conservation of a
Federally-Threatened Species into housing.... The rest of us have to toe
the line as far as ESA concerns, and the development community and big
business always seem to skate!

"Klickitat County Spotted Owl Habitat Conversion - Area Habitat Biologist
Dugger responded to a proposal in Klickitat County (White Salmon River
watershed) to convert suitable spotted owl habitat into a residential
development. As with other similar projects in the area, it is unlikely
that Klickitat County will deny the land use permits. "
