More than the usual numbers of PINE SISKINS have been reported at feeders
around the Tri-Cities. On November 9, Ruth Fischer had 3 at her Richland
feeder. Bob Woodley's feeder hosted 5 siskins on November 11 and 1 on
November 13. On November 15, Margaret Greger had a siskin also.

With the high number of siskins and reports of other finches heading south,
be on the lookout for and report any Common Redpolls, Red or White-winged
Crossbills, and Pine or Evening Grosbeaks.

On November 12, Laurie Ness observed a late OSPREY at Snake River Junction
off the Pasco-Kahlotus Highway. Another late observation of an OSPREY was
made by Dutton Kelly at the Paterson Unit of the Umatilla NWR on November 17.

The Yakima Delta hosted shorebirds for a brief time on November 13. Bob
Woodley reported 22 KILLDEER, 3 GREATER YELLOWLEGS, 1 DUNLIN, 22
LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS, and 3 COMMON SNIPE. A PEREGRINE FALCON was also
present and has remained. Also on the 13th, Bob had an immature
GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROW at his feeder.

On November 18, Laurie Ness found a male EURASIAN WIGEON and a MEW GULL at
the duck pond in Columbia Park in Kennewick. An EARED GREBE was with a
more common Horned Grebe in the river opposite the pond.

Mark your calendars for the annual Tri-Cities Christmas Bird Count on
December 29. For more information contact Phil Bartley at 509-783-5265.

To report your own sightings, please give your name, phone number and
sightings after the tone. Thank you.
