The recent spate of sighting reports of WHITE-THROATED SPARROWS at feeders
prompts me to note that there's been a 1st winter WHITE-THROATED SPARROW
appearing daily at the feeder in my backyard in Two Rivers County Park since
November 2nd.

Also, "yellow-shafted" X "red-shafted" intergrades of NORTHERN FLICKER are
something I've come to expect to see here in late fall-early winter, but
just now at the bird bath in my backyard I had a variation which I've never
read about nor seen before. The bird appeared to be a typical "red-shafted"
male in all respects EXCEPT one: The red malar stripe on both sides of its
face was bordered along its bottom edge by a distinct black line. If it
returns, I will attempt to photograph it.
