Yuck. That was some nasty weather this morning. Rather cold, with sleet
changing to rain, blowing fairly horizontally in what became 20 m.p.h.
sustained winds. Our hands were COLD. My toes were cold. There wasn't as
much rain as two weeks ago, but the horizontal aspect means rain down the neck
etc. We fairly raced through our route (me and Brian Bell and Ollie the
Intrepid), finishing about 2 hours earlier than usual. Again, had to wade
through about 11 inches of water to get to the boardwalk.

Best highlight - 4 RIVER OTTER on the far shore just upstream of the weir.

Bird highlights:

Sharp-shinned Hawk Immature near our cars early
Common Snipe 1 at weir
Ring-necked Pheasant Male at compost piles

The PHEASANT was just my 3rd sighting of this species at Marymoor!

The other thing of interest was the small (12 foot?) catamaran that had broken
free from its mooring and was resting in the reeds just west of the lake
platform. It had found a good spot to ride out the storm in, albeit with lots
of clanking of lines against mast. There were whitecaps on the lake and waves
splashing through the boards of the boardwalk.

All told, about 33 species. Surprisingly few ducks and finches.
