Every year, a family grouping of from 2 to 4 PILEATED WOODPECKERS descend
upon my Pacific Dogwoods within one day of September 10th, gorging on the
"buttons." They continue to come around until the buttons are gone. There
were still two of them out there today, keeping in touch with the soft
version of their "kuk kuk" calls.
