I went out to Bob Morse's lots at 718 North Bay Ave. today at noon and
easily found the single American White Pelican on a spit of sand to the
northeast of the north end of Bill's Spit. This bird is hanging out with
gulls and sticks out like a sore thumb! Be aware of the current 9 ft high
tides this weekend, as those spits of sand will not be available for the
birds at those times. Kathleen said this pelican may then be up on shore
along Chinook Pl. Be advised many of the formerly empty lots are quickly
selling and being built up.

This message is from Kathleen Wolgemuth whose computer connection is very
iffy right now. She asked me to let all know of the return of the American
White Pelican to Bill's Spit in Ocean Shores, Wa. Grays Harbor County.
Though usually seen as a pair, she has only seen the one bird so far, but
admits she has been too busy to watch regularly. These birds have also been
seen at Grays Harbor National Wildlife Refuge in past years, though I did
not see them there on Wednesday 10/3 in my two visits to that area. I will
go out looking for them today and keep you posted for the weekend.
