Yesterday I walked the dike trail at Nisqually, a few unusual species were
seen. Today the outer portion of the dike trail closes for the season. The
trail remains open to the Ring Dike on the east side and MacAllister Creek
on the west. A lone Snow Goose was present with Canada's at the trail
junction near headquarters, and an Immature White-throated Sparrow was at
Twin Barns. The most unusual species was 7 Marbled Godwits along the outer
dike trail (now closed). With lots of luck and good tides, they might be
seen from the Luhr Beach boat launch/ Nisqually Reach Nature Center. Also
around were Merlin, Peregrine Falcon, American Kestral, many American
Pipits, and Lincolns Sparrows, and most of the fall regulars. Good Luck.
