Subject: Golden Eagle near Centralia

Tweeters,

My highlight while birding today at the Centralia Steam Plant a few miles
northeast of Centralia in Lewis County was finding a subadult GOLDEN
EAGLE. The bird was perched in the fields east of the plant along the
north side of Big Hanaford Road, just before reaching the last two wetland
impoundments. The pale brown nape and partial white at the base of the
tail were easily noted. Interestingly, these fields are in the midst of
the area's fairly extensive coal strip mining operation.
